Mark Stevens made his professional debut as a featured vocalist at The Grape Vine in Chicago. It was there that people began telling him "Man, you sound just like Mel Tormé!" Over the years his admiration for Tormé deepened and those first early compliments served as inspiration for Stevens to write Velvet Fog, his first solo endeavor. Stevens makes his home in San Francisco.
